A Fifa anunciou neste sábado (28) que a edição inaugural da Copa do Mundo de Clubes será disputada em 11 cidades, sendo que uma delas, Orlando, terá dois estádios no torneio. Nove sedes ficam na Costa Leste, e apenas duas estão na Costa Oeste (Los Angeles e Seattle). O MetLife Stadium, na região de Nova York, foi escolhido para receber a final do torneio, no dia 13 de julho de 2025. A competição terá 32 times e será disputada a cada quatro anos.

O Mundial de Clubes 2025 já conhece 30 dos 32 times que disputarão a competição. Uma das duas vagas que restam é da América do Sul, e a outra será de um time da MLS, como representante do país anfitrião (a liga de futebol dos Estados Unidos ainda definirá o critério para escolha). O sorteio dos grupos será realizado em dezembro e três clubes brasileiros já estão garantidos no Mundial de Clubes: Flamengo, Fluminense e Palmeiras. O país pode ter um quarto representante, caso Botafogo ou Atlético-MG conquiste a Libertadores. Se o campeão da Libertadores for o River Plate, que também já está garantido no Mundial, o Olimpia-PAR ficará com a última vaga sul-americana pelo ranking da Conmebol. Outro semifinalista, o Peñarol só tem chance de ir ao Mundial se ganhar a Libertadores.
