Um dos mais tradicionais estádios do interior está de novo à serviço do futebol baiano. O Estádio Municipal Antônio Pena, na cidade de Catu, foi recuperado pelo Governo do Estado e a entrega do equipamento aconteceu na manhã de hoje (30), com a presença do Governador Rui Costa.
Inaugurado na década de 90, o estádio foi mando de campo da Catuense, um dos clubes mais tradicionais da Bahia, cujo patrono Antônio Pena foi prefeito de Catu e na sua gestão a praça foi construída, sendo na época uma das mais bonitas da Bahia. Com o passar dos anos, o estádio acabou deteriorado e com a ausência da Catuense de competições, a situação ficou pior ainda.
Agora a praça esportiva foi reaberta e contou com um investimento de R$851 mil do governo estadual. “É um estádio para uso dos esportistas e da população que vier assistir às partidas, onde eu espero que seja um estímulo para que os jovens pratiquem esportes”, afirmou o governador Rui Costa.
Executada pela Secretaria do Trabalho, Emprego, Renda e Esporte do Estado (Setre), a intervenção no Estádio Municipal envolveu a reforma do alambrado e serviços de impermeabilização, pintura e colocação de gramado de campo oficial. “Fizemos a recuperação total deste equipamento e Catu já entra em 2021 com estádio novo, capaz de abrigar qualquer competição esportiva nos moldes oficiais, inclusive campeonatos internacionais”, ressaltou o secretário Davidson Magalhães, titular da Setre.
