O início da partida não poderia ser melhor para o Vitória. O time rubro-negro abriu o placar aos três minutos. Wallace lançou Thiago Lopes na área, ele esperou Fernando Neto, que chegou batendo e saiu para comemorar seu primeiro gol pelo Leão.
A partida ficou paralisada aos 25 por conta de falta de energia no bairro de Canabrava, onde fica localizado o Barradão. Como a praça esportiva tem gerador, a energia foi reestabelecida 20 minutos depois e a bola voltou a rolar.
Após a energia retornar, o Vitória manteve a intensidade e continuou soberano. Porém, não conseguiu ampliar a vantagem no primeiro tempo.
O Figueirense até chegou a assustar nos minutos iniciais, mas esbarrou no goleiro Ronaldo. O Vitória deu a resposta aos quatro. Thiago Lopes armou um contra-ataque e acionou Vico, que chutou para a defesa de Rodolfo Castro. Aos 11, o Vitória chegou ao terceiro gol. Depois de boa jogada, Rafael Carioca tocou para Fernando Neto, que chutou em cima da defesa. Guilherme Rend veio de trás, pegou o rebote e mandou um foguete, sem chances de defesa para Rodolfo Castro.
Em vantagem, o Vitória tirou o pé do acelerador, mas sem deixar de atacar. Apesar das tentativas, o jogo terminou com o placar de 3 a 0.
